ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Highway Authority (NHA) would soon set up an Emergency Response Centers (ERCs) along the national highways in Pakistan.

An official of NAH told the state-run news agency on Thursday that initially these centers would be set up in the on three highways of Balochistan.

   

The Emergency respose Centes would be set up at Dhana Sar and Meena Bazar along Kuchlak-Dera Ismail Khan Highway (N-50), Kalat, Sorab, Wadh and Kararo along Karachi-Chaman Highway (N-25) and Nag and Hoshab along Hushab-Surab Highway (N-85).

He said these centers would operate 24 hours throughout the week and would be manned by trained para medical staff and equipped with necessary first aid facilities besides ambulances and cranes for rescue and relief operations.

He said the primary objective of the decision was to make traveling along national highways more safe and to ensure timely help to the injured in case of an accident.

While selecting the locations of ERCs, main emphasis would be their close proximity to cities and towns, he said.
