KARACHI, Pakistan: Famous Cooking Expert Zubaida Tariq, known as Zubaida Aapa, passed away last night in Karachi at the age of 72.

Zubaida Aapa had been brought to a hospital on Thursday evening after her health deteriorated but she breathed her last late night. Her funeral prayer will be offered at Sultan Mosque in Defence area of Karachi after Jumma prayer.

Zubaida Aapa is survived by son Hussain Tariq and daughter Shaha Tariq. She had five sisters and four brothers, and among them most prominent were famous writers Anwar Maqsood and late Fatima Surayya Bajia. Bilal Maqsood, the prominent member of renewed music band Strings, was Zubaida Aapa’s nephew.

Besides her cooking expertise, Zubaida Aapa was also very famous for her housekeeping advices which she used to give to the viewers during her television shows.

Meanwhile in a statement, the State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Zubaida Aapa.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Zubaida Aapa was famous across the Country for her unique cooking shows.

The minister said that Zubaida Aapa rendered great service for the encouragement of positive values. “May Allah grant Zubaida Aapa a highest place in Jannah,” she said.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the charismatic personality and role of Zubaida Aapa will be remembered for long.

In a statement, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed grief and sorrow over Zubaida Aapa’s death. The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Zubaida Aapa was born on April 4, 1945 in Hyderabad Deccan, and along with her family she migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and settled in Karachi. Zubaida got married at the age of 21 to her first cousin Tariq Maqsood in 1966.
