ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday forecast widespread rain-thundershower accompanied by strong gusty winds in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

According to the synoptic situation, a low pressure area was lying over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Westerly wave was affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist till Sunday.

Rain-thundershower is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions in KPK, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions in Punjab Scattered heavy downpours at times very heavy are expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and Mardan divisions and Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, and Lahore divisions.

Heavy downpours may generate urban/flash flooding in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions, FATA, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Lahore divisions and Kashmir on Saturday.

Dry weather is expected in Sindh and Balochistan during the next 24 hours.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Punjab (Jhang 50, Jehlum 46, Mandi Bahauddin 39 mm, Sargodha 29, Gujranwala 25, Muree 23, Islamabad and Sailkot 22, Multan 21, Faisalabad 20, Rawalpindi 19, Dera Ghazi Khan and Layyah 17, Toba Tek Singh 14, Noorpurthal 12, Mianwali 11, Kot aduu 8, Chakwal, Johrabad, Shorkot and Lahore (PBO) 7, Sailkot Cantt 2, Gujrat and Kasur 1); Balochistan (Kalat 32, Zhob 21, Quetta (Sheikh manda 17, Samungli 08, Barkhan 14, Panjgur 11, Nokkundi 06, Dalbanadin 05, Sibbi 03, Pasni 01), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dera Ismail Khan, Malamjabba 28, Lower Dir 21, Dir 20, Cherat 18, Bannu and Kohat 17, Balakot 13, Saidu Sharif, Peshawar city and kakul 11, Saidu Sharif 10, Pattan 9, Mirkhani Peshawar A/P 08, Drosh, Risalpur 4, Kalam, Parachinar 03,), Kashmir (Rawalakot 34, Kotli 26, Muzaffarabad 21, Garidupatta 17,),Sindh (Larkana 05, Shaheed Benazirabad 01).
