LAHORE, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the phase-1 of the largest infrastructural development project of Pakistan’s history – ‘Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project’.

The project will feature the following;

  • Rehabilitation of dying Ravi River
  • 46 kilometers long lake
  • Urban forests (6 million trees)
  • 3 Barrages
  • 6 Water Treatment Plants
  • Surface Water Treatment Plants
  • High rise buildings
  • 8 million Housing Units
  • 13 Special Centers (Knowledge City, Health City, Commercial City, Innovation City, and Sports City)

In his address at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project in Lahore, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that this will be a planned City equipped with all the latest facilities.

The prime minister said that the people at home and the international level are evincing their interest in this mega project.

Imran Khan said that building a new City will not be easy and obstacles will come in its way, and directed the Punjab government that there should not be any delay in the execution of the project.

In addition, he said that the federal government will fully support the provincial government in the Ravi River Front City project. He said that the government will provide the basic infrastructure in this new City project whilst the rest of the City will be raised from the investment.

The prime minister expressed the confidence that our overseas Pakistanis will make the biggest investment in it.

Imran Khan said that the Ravi River Front City will have separate Centers for information and technology and education.

The prime minister said that there will also be affordable housing in the City to accommodate the poor people. He said that we are also giving loans on low-interest rates so that the salaried class, labourers, and low-income groups could own their houses.
