Astana, Kazakhstan: The servicemen of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held the first joint exercises on the territory of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan to eliminate the illegal armed formation (terrorists), the press service of the Kazakh Defense Ministry reported.
Joint exercises are named as “Yerik Dala”.
According to details, both the countries stepped up cooperation in the military-technical sphere in 2017. In August last year, the defense ministries of the two countries concluded a military cooperation plan. The signed document, which entered into force in February 2018, includes activities within the framework of joint operational and combat training of troops and in the field of military education.
According to the schedule of the exercise, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) conducting air reconnaissance from an altitude of 2,500 meters, discovered a group of illegal armed formations (terrorist hideouts) that were destroyed by a pair of Su-30 SM fighters. On the routes of the probable movement of the remaining enemy forces, a group of special forces landed from a height of 2,000 meters and suppressed a possible enemy by front-line aviation in the village.
Joint exercises showed full coherence and mutual understanding of our special units in the application of combat aviation, the use of the most modern technology in night conditions.
Kazinform reported that Defense Minister of Kazakhstan, Colonel General Saken Zhassuzakov, and his Uzbek counterpart, Major General Abdusalom Azizov, participated in the active phase of Yerik Dala joint military tactical exercises, Kazinform cites the Kazakh Defense Ministry’s press service.
