KIEV, Ukraine: The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has dissolved the country’s parliament and called for fresh elections to be held on October 26.
In a televised address, Poroshenko said that many current members of the parliament were backers of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych and that the majority of Ukrainians wanted a new parliament.
The move came as the government forces in Ukraine continue to fight pro-Russian rebels in the east.
