Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko who is leader of Batkivshchyna Party (Батькивщина) opposed the decision of President Poroshenko and his government to raise the price of gas by another 23.5% from November 1.
Tymoshenko called on Ukrainian to stand together to stop the government for increasing price of gas further as winter is arriving and poor people will not in position to .
“On October 19, 2018, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, it was decided to increase the price of gas for citizens by 23.5% from November 1. This means that the tariffs for heat, hot water and other utilities will increase proportionally. The consequences of this decision are tragic”, said Tymoshenko.
According to her, the government headed by President Petro Poroshenko deliberately driving millions of Ukrainians into poverty and debt dependence.
“The Batkivshchyna team began an all-Ukrainian movement against raising gas prices and utility rates. People’s actions are taking place in all regions of Ukraine. People are outraged by the recent decision of President Poroshenko to raise gas prices,” Yulia Tymoshenko said on her Facebook page.
“I, too, was with people today, in Kiev, on Bankova. The self-will of the country’s leadership must be stopped!” Said the leader of Batkivshchyna.
“The fact that people gathered en masse near the Presidential Administration is a signal of Poroshenko, his tricks will not pass – to shift the blame for the gas price increase, according to the terrible state to any other country.
