UK bans foreign students from working, staying

The crackdown has been ordered by Home Secretary Theresa May and under the new rules, foreign students except European Union nationals will have to leave the country before reapplying to return for a job.

The students will not have the right to work while staying in the United Kingdom as well as they won’t be able to apply for a visa extension when their course ends.

The report says that the home minister has also banned 870 bogus colleges from taking foreign students as it along with other news rules regarding immigration will help stop colleges being used as a ‘back door to a British work visa’.

The British authorities also plan to cut the length of stay for foreign students in the country to two years.

The official figures show that 121,000 non-EU students entered the United Kingdom in the 12 months to June last year but only 51,000 left while according to the government estimates, the number of foreign students coming to the UK will rise by more than six percent a year up to 2020.
