ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Religious Scholars led by the Muttahida Sunni Council will hold rallies in Islamabad/Rawalpindi on Thursday against the publication of blasphemous caricatures by Charlie Hebdo.

The rallies will be held at the following locations;

  • From Apbara Chowk to D-Chowk.
  • From Masjid Al-Hadees Sector I-10 Markaz and Masjid e Shuhda Sector I-10/2 to Faizabad around 1500 hrs.
  • From Liaqat Bagh Murree Road Rawalpindi to Zero Point via Faizabad around 1700 hrs.
  • From Chungi number 26 Peshawar Road to Zero Point via Srinagar Highway around 1700 hrs.

Meanwhile, heightened security measures are anticipated at the Red Zone and Serena Hotel in Islamabad.

In the wake of the rallies in the Federal Capital, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has devised the following Traffic Diversion plan to facilitate the motorists, suggesting them alternative routes to travel.
