ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The tradition of outdoor Iftar gatherings with family is gaining popularity in federal capital as many restaurants offer affordable deals during Ramazan.

The hotel and restaurants offer special Ramazan deals for families ranging from affordable rates to expensive ones depending on the variety and quality of food items.

The Iftar gatherings at homes is now turning into outdoor Iftar dinners in a way to share with families.

These Iftar parties also serve as entertainment activity and give people a break from daily routine.

Besides gatherings, Iftar parties are also emerging as a potential business for hotels and restaurants.

Iftar is usually heavy, consisting mainly of sweet and savoury treats such as jalebi, samosas, pakora, chatni and namak para, besides the staple dates, water and juices.

Other items such as chicken rolls, spring rolls, Shami Kebabs, fruit chaat, chana chaat and dahi balay are also very common.

Collective Iftar at Mosques is also becoming a known phenomenon in federal capital and numbers of people participate in these collective iftars.
