ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday thanked the government of Pakistan and its people for extending the support in the wake of failed coup attempt in Turkey in July 2016.

Erdogan said that Pakistan always helped Turkey in hour of need. He said that we always helped each other in happiness and grief alike and we should have continued to support each other to eradicate terrorist organizations.

“I express my love and affection for the people of Pakistan,” the Turkish president said. “We are two real brothers”.

The Turkish president said that some powers were trying to create differences between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Tayyip Erdogan said that Pakistan and Turkey stood against terrorism and against those people who were using the name of Islam for terrorism and trying to disintegrate Islamic world.

Erdogan said that the West was assisting the terror organizations like Daesh and Al-Qaeda against Islam.

“Islam is name of peace and brotherhood,” he said. “We have responsibility to stand against injustice”.

Further talking about the international terrorism, Erdogan urged unity among Muslim Ummah against all conspiracies to defame Islam.

“Gulen organisation is a terrorist organization,” Erdogan emphasized. He said that Gulen organisation would be eliminated before it harmed Pakistan.

Haling democratic norms flourishing in the South Asian Country, Erdogan said that Pakistan followed democracy in an excellent way.

Tayyip Erdogan expressed the confidence that the cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey would be further improved and strengthened in the days ahead. He said that the trade between Pakistan and Turkish should have reached $1 billion.

The Turkish president said that Pakistan and Afghanistan should have worked together as brothers. He said that we urged both the countries to stand together.

Talking about the Kashmir issue, Erdogan said that Turkey stood with Kashmiris who were facing brutality. He said that the Kashmir issue must have been resolved for regional peace.

“We offer our support to Kashmir cause of Pakistan,” he said.

Earlier the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was given warm welcome at his arrival in the Parliament House where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and three Services Chiefs were also present. The national of anthems of Pakistan and Turkey were also played in the House.

Tayyip Erdogan’s address to the Joint Session of the Parliament comes as the Turkish leader accompanied by a high level delegation is in Pakistan on a two-day official visit.

During his visit, the Turkish president has already held talks with Pakistani leadership including President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad.

In recent year, the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey have witnessed tremendous growth and dynamism as the both sides are working to give powerful thrust to bilateral trade, investment and commercial cooperation as part of the efforts to build a robust economic partnership.
