NewsState Bank announces banking timings during Ramazan

KARACHI, Pakistan: The State Bank of Pakistan on Monday announced the banking timings during Ramazan, the Holy Month likely to begin in Pakistan on Tuesday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the State Bank said that during Ramzan, banking timings will be from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm on Monday till Thursday while on Fridays, banking timings will be from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The federal government office timings were already announced last month, according to which, for offices working five days a week, the timings will be observed from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Likewise, for offices working six days a week, timings will be observed from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Moon sighting today

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet under the Chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman at the Meteorological building in Karachi on Monday evening for sighting the moon of Ramazan 1437 Hijri.

The meeting of zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also be held on Monday for collecting evidences in respect of sighting or other wise of the Ramazan moon.

It is likely that Ramazan moon will be sighted on Monday evening and first fast in Pakistan will be observed on Tuesday.

Earlier on Sunday evening, Ramazan moon was sighted in Far East and Gulf countries; therefore, Muslims in those counties are observing their first fast today.
