ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pakistan His Excellency Sakib Foric has said that Srebrenica massacre shall never be forgotten by the humanity and it would remain in minds forever.

His remarks came in a Commemoration Seminar on “Remembering Srebrenica 1995-2019” jointly organized by the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) and the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Islamabad on Monday.

The Srebrenica massacre occurred in July 1995 in which more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were killed by the Bosnian Serb forces in Srebrenica, a town in eastern Bosnia. In addition to the killings, more than 20,000 civilians were expelled from the area, in a process known as ethnic cleansing.

In his address at the Seminar, the Bosnian Ambassador His Excellency Sakib Foric said that next year Bosnia would observe the 25th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide.

The Bosnian ambassador said that Bosnians came to Pakistan wherein they found Pakistanis hospitable as local residents warmly welcomed them as brothers.

The Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood, the Chairman of Standing Committee of Interior Senator Rehman Malik, the former Ambassador of Pakistan to Bosnia and Herzegovina & the President CGSS Major General (retd) Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, the Commanding Officer Pakistan Amy Contingent UPROFOR Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina Major General (retd) Qasim Qureshi, and the Assistant Professor at Department of Law in International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr Susic Sejo also addressed the participants.

The Speakers were of the view that there are many similarities between genocide of Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir and Bosnian events.

The Editor ‘The News International’ Mr. Amir Ghauri presented the poetry on “Remembering of Srebrenica”.
