KARACHI, Pakistan: The elections at the Sindh Assembly for new Provincial Chief Minister will be held on Friday, according to a schedule issued by the legislative body.
As per schedule, elections for new Sindh Chief Minister will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday.
The nomination papers for Chief Minister can be submitted from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm today (Thursday), scrutiny of nomination papers will be held at 6:00 pm at the Sindh Assembly Office whereas final list of the candidates will be displayed at 7:00 pm.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan accepted the resignation of the outgoing Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah with which, the Provincial Cabinet also stood dissolved.
The ruling party in Sindh Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has already formally nominated Syed Murad Ali Shah for the post of Sindh Chief Minister.
The Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Moula Bakhsh Chandio told newsmen in Karachi on Tuesday night that the PPP wanted an energetic and young Chief Minister for the Sindh Province ahead of 2018 general elections; therefore the decided to replace Qaim Ali Shah.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Khurram Sher Zaman for Sindh Chief Minister.
