SCO summit will discuss spillover of terrorists from Afghan borders
Ufa, Russia: Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Ufa Russian will discuss spillover of terrorists from Afghan borders to central Asian republics. This issue will be discussed in 15th meeting of the Council of SCO Heads of State of members and observers countries.
According to diplomatic sources, SCO leaders will also discuss possibilities of installing some special forces on the borders of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as both countries border troubled Afghanistan and are under the direct threat of spillover of terrorists in these two former states of USSR. Afghan Taliban and Islamic State fighters are trying to enter Tajikistan through Kundoz province of Afghanistan since May 2015 and while autonomous Badakhshan province of Tajikistan is also under threat from Afghan based ISI terrorists.
“How to respond to the security situation on Afghan borders will be the core issue during the meeting of the Head of states”, said sources.
According to sources, Pakistan will also indicate presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leadership in Kunar province of Afghanistan and will make a point that no concert action has taken so far by Afghan forces to root TTP hideouts out in from Kunar. Pakistan has been asking Afghan government to take action against TTP hideouts where TTP chief Muallah Fazulullah is hiding in and around Kunar valley. It may be mentioned that TTP killed over 55,000 Pakistanis including 7,000 staffers of law enforcing agencies.
The 15th meeting of the Council of SCO Heads of State that will be held on Thursday and Friday (July 9-10) in Ufa, capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic will formally ask Afghanistan about the presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (also known as Daiesh) in Afghanistan and constant try of terrorists to enter SCO member state Tajikistan from Afghan border.
Sources say that Tajikistan has formally placed its concern about terrorism activities on agenda coming from border with Afghanistan. Tajik border forces are weakest in the region due to lack of resources therefore Russia is worried for entering of ISIS members inside Tajikistan from Afghan border.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have also shown serious concerns about rising of Islamic State in Afghanistan. Putin believes that Islamic State is present in 24 provinces of Afghanistan and he discussed this issue with former Afghan President Hamid Karzai last week when Karzai visited Kremlin.
It may be mentioned that China’s Deputy Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping during a press briefing on July 6 also expressed increasing concerns of China regarding presence of Islamic State terrorists in Afghanistan.
China fears “spillover effect” of the ISIL terrorist and believes that Afghanistan faces a grim security situation due to alleged support of certain Afghan elements sitting in government to terrorists.
