ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Establishment Division of Government of Pakistan has posted Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera at his previous position as the Secretary of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage under the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court directed the Establishment Division to revert its decision of replacing the Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera with Arshad Mirza.
The Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar expressed displeasure over the removal of Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera as the Secretary Information.
Justice Saqib Nisar said that Sukhera’s removal as the Secretary Information without his assent amounted to noncompliance of the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice asked the Establishment Division to re-appoint Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera on his previous post.
Later, in pursuance of Supreme Court’s order, the Establishment Division issued a notification mentioning Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera being transferred and posted as Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting with immediate effect.
In his remarks, the Chief Justice had further said that transfer of Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to any other place would only be done with the prior approval of the Supreme Court as he was assisting the Court in several cases related to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
However, the Establishment Division transferred him on June 26 to the Ministry of Education as the Secretary without informing the Supreme Court.
The Establishment Division notified the appointment of Arshad Mirza as the Secretary of Information Ministry while Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera was posted as the Secretary Federal Education and Professional Training Division.
Educated from Harvard University, Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera belongs to Pakistan Administrative Service Group while Arshad Mirza is also a senior official of Pakistan Administrative Service Group.
