Rehman Malik claims not responsible for PIA flight delay

KARACHI: A video clip showing irate airline passengers expel Senator Rehman Malik

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Senator Rehman Malik has claimed that he was not responsible for the delay of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight.

A PIA’s flight PK-370 was scheduled to depart from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport for Islamabad at 7pm today but it was delayed by more than two and a half hours.

Later, enraged passengers accused Rehman Malik and the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar Wakwani of being responsible for the flight delay and barred them from boarding the plane.

However, Senator Rehman Malik denied that the delay had to do with him and said that take-off was delayed due to a technical fault.

The PIA confirmed that the delay was due to a technical fault and also suspended two of its employees over the delayed take-off of the Islamabad-bound plane.
