ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf Thursday vowed starting consultation process with Ulema and scholars for ensuring same day celebration of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Talking to reporters, after distributing cash prizes and merit certificates among the winners of 32nd Hifz-o-Qirat competition, he said a meeting of Ulema and scholars would be convened before Ramazan-ul-Mubarak for evolving consensus on same day starting the holy month across the country.

He said the next meeting of Ruet-e-Hilal committee should be held in Peshawar. He appealed Ulema and people to accept the decisions of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Earlier, the minister distributed cash prizes and certificates among 24 winners of 32nd Hifz-o-Qirat competition.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the Holy Quran was major source of deriving knowledge.

He vowed to send top position holder Huffaz and Qurra to participate in international Husn-e-Qirat competition.

The teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) should be disseminated among the common people.

The ministry was playing its role in instilling the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PEBUH) in the minds of masses. The ministry arranges Seerah conferences every year.

Referring to his recent visit of Al Azhar University, Egypt, he said the head of the University had been asked to enhance quota of Pakistani students up to optimum level so that our students could get quality education opportunities.

University should enhance scholarship quota of Pakistani students. Currently 70 students were being imparted quality religious education at Azhar University Eqypt.

A total of 63 huffaz and Quarra participated in the 32nd national Hifz-o-Qirat competition.

Cash prizes and merit certificates were distributed among the first three position winners of all the categories.

The first cash prize contained Rs 50,000 for first award winner, Rs 35,000 for second position and Rs 25,000 for third position holders.

There were eight categories including four hifz and four qirat competitions.

Each category was awarded first, second and third position prizes.

The qurra and huffaz had been selected from each province, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan earlier to participate in eight categories included to recite  whole Quran; to recite randomly first 20 paras (chapters) and to  recite randomly from first 10 Paras.

In the category of Hifz, the competition was to recite first 20 paras of the Holy Quran. The category of Hifz, the first 10 paras of the Holy Quran were recited by various huffaz.

Under the category of Hifz, competition were held to recite 1 to 5 para of the Holy Quran. While the competition of category of Husne-Qirat was for youngsters of above 15 years of age (boys). The Husn-e-Qirat competition category was also held among category of girls and boys under 16 years.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
