Ramazan-ul-Mubarak Moon has been sighted in many Countries of the World including in Pakistan on Wednesday evening, marking the advent of the Holy Month of Ramazan.
Therefore, the first Fast will be observed on Thursday (May 17, 2018) in Pakistan, India, Saud Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, England, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Japan, and Australia among others.
In Pakistan, the announcement with regard to the sighting of Ramazan Moon (Crescent) was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman in a Press Conference in Karachi.
Besides the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held in Karachi, Provincial and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees also met simultaneously in their respective areas for sighting the Ramazan Moon on Wednesday evening.
Mufti Munibur Rehman said that testimonies of the Ramazan Moon sighting were received from various parts of Pakistan including Lower Dir, Buner, Nathia Gali, Abbottabad and Quetta among other areas.
In a statement, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain congratulated Muslims on the advent of Ramadan ul Mubarak.
President Mamnoon said that the Holy Month of Ramadan teaches peace, brotherhood patience and perseverance.
Longest Fast to be observed in Greenland
The longest Fast will be observed in Greenland where Muslims will fast for 21 hours and 2 minutes. In Iceland, Fast will be for 21 hours, in Finland for 19 hours and 56 minutes, and in Norway and Switzerland for 19 hours.
Likewise, Muslims in Russia, Germany, Ireland, England, Belgium and other European Countries will fast for 18 hours, in Canada for 17 hours and 24 minutes, in the United States for 16 hours and 29 minutes, in Iran for 16 hours and 4 minutes, and in Afghanistan for 15 hours and 51 minutes.
In India, Fast will be for 15 hours and 2 minutes, in Pakistan for 15 hours, in Saudi Arabia for 14 hours and 41 minutes, in Indonesia for 13 hours and 2 minutes, in Australia and New Zealand for 11 hours and 40 minutes while the shortest Fast will be in Argentina wherein Muslims will fast for 11 hours and 32 minutes.
