Ramazan 2015 likely to begin in Pakistan on Thursday

KARACHI, Pakistan: It is likely that the holy month of Ramazan in Pakistan will begin on June 18 as according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), there is a possibility of sighting the new moon on Wednesday night.

In a statement on Tuesday, the PMD Director General Dr Ghulam Rasul said that due to the clear skies it is likely that the new moon will be seen tomorrow.

The PMD director general said that the time duration of the moon’s visibility will be 38 minutes while its age is would be 24 hours and 44 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold its meeting in Karachi on Wednesday evening with its Chairman Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman in the Chair to decide sighting or otherwise of Ramazan moon.

The meetings of the zonal committees will also be held at their respective headquarters to witness the Ramazan moon.
