ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Punjab government has decided to arrest Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed while a number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were detained after Islamabad Police raided Party’s Youth Convention in the Federal Capital.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Sheikh Rasheed said that Rawalpindi will be shut down on October 28 (Friday) as well as on November 2.

“On November 2, Rawalpindi will be closed down no matter what anyone does,” Sheikh Rasheed said.

Sheikh Rasheed’s press conference followed two back-to-back notifications by Islamabad and Rawalpindi administrations, imposing Section 144 in Twin Cities ahead of November 2 protest.

“I will tear Section 144 into 144 pieces,” Sheikh Rasheed said.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Police stormed PTI’s Youth Convention Ceremony in E-11 Sector and arrested scores of party activists.

Talking to media, the PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi alleged that the federal government had arrested hundreds of PTI workers and police tortured the female workers of the party as well.

“Hundreds of PTI workers were arrested and female workers were tortured by the police,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi said.

The PTI Vice Chairman said that peaceful protest was our Constitutional right. “We did not violate rules and regulations. Police crackdown is a true face of PML-N,” he said.

“I demand from Islamabad IG that our workers be released immediately,” Qureshi said.untitled

However, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Daniyal Aziz told media that the PTI was bent upon locking down Islamabad despite clear orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) under which the PTI was restrained from shutting down the Federal Capital.

Daniyal Aziz said that the PTI Convention was against the court’s decision. He said that the PTI workers were making strategy to lockdown the Federal Capital in the Convention.
