Previous story filed prior to the beginning of second day’s play

The Opening Day of the first Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand was washed out due to rain at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Thursday; however, fine weather is forecast for the remaining four days.

The Second Day’s play will begin on Friday at 02:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST), 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time.

Having occupied the second spot in ICC Test Rankings at the moment, Pakistan will be looking forward to continue its dominance over New Zealand, which is at number seven in Test rankings.

Apart from ruling the World in Test Cricket right now after India, Pakistan’s overall Test performance against New Zealand has also been excellent.

Both the teams so far have met each other in 53 Tests, out of which Pakistan won 24 whereas New Zealand succeeded in only eight matches.

This two-match bilateral series is being played in New Zealand where Pakistan has not lost a series since 1995. Out of eight Test series between the two sides in New Zealand having taken place since 1995, Pakistan won five where there ended in draw.

It’s likely that Pakistan will include three fast bowlers in first Test match at Christchurch because its pitch appears seam friendly.pakistan-new-zealand-misbah-test-match
