LAHORE, Pakistan: Preparations have been completed to accord a warm welcome to the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his arrival in Lahore.

A large number of banners to show solidarity with Nawaz Sharif have been placed across the City ahead of his arrival.

Welcome camps have been set up from Shahdara to Data Darbar while emotionally charged Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers and supporters will welcome their leader at the Babu Sabu Interchange and take him to Darbar Data Ganj Bukhsh in the shape of a procession where he will address a rally in front of the shrine.

The police have beefed up the security to protect the participants of PML-N’s rally in the provincial capital.

According to police, proper security measures have been taken to ensure law and order.

The personnel of Elite Force have been deployed for protection of the rally.

Special contingents of commandos and police officials also deployed on sensitive points.

The City Traffic police also prepared a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow in city.

As per the plan, four Superintendent of Police (SPs), 20 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), 70 Inspectors and over 2,000 wardens will perform duty.

Earlier in the day, Nawaz Sharif left Gujranwala for Lahore, continuing his homecoming journey in the shape of massive rally.

The rally at Gujranwala was warmly welcomed by a large number of the PML-N workers and supporters.

Senior PML-N leaders including Khurram Dastgir, Khawaja Asif, Marvi Memon, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Danyal Aziz, Talal Chaudhry, Chaudhry Nazeer Ahmad, Mudassar Qayoom Nahra and other local and provincial leaders were also along with the rally.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
