ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) top leadership was set to make an appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad on Wednesday, the situation turned violent and the PPP’s leader Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also resorted to violence against a police constable.

The PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and the Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had been summoned today by the NAB as part of an inquiry into an alleged loan obtained by the Park Lane Estate Company.

Therefore, strict security measures were at place outside the NAB Office while a large number of PPP leaders and workers had also gathered there to express solidarity with their top leadership.

Meanwhile, a clash occurred between police personnel and PPP’s workers.

The PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira alleged that more than 50 peaceful protestors of PPP went missing.

Qamar Zaman Kaira demanded that police should release PPP workers immediately, adding that they can’t stop us through torturing.

The PPP leader and the former Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari also alleged that they were stopped at NADRA Chowk and not allowed to reach the NAB Office.

Nayyar Bukhari said that the administration would be responsible if any untoward situation happened.

On the other hand, the PPP workers including Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also turned aggressive against deployed police personnel and subjected them to torture.

The PPP workers also assaulted and injured the National Press Club (NPC) Joint Secretary and Geo News Cameraman Syed Sheraz Ali Gardezi.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
