ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address the nation on Monday night regarding the new series of initiatives being taken especially across Punjab in the aftermath of Lahore blast.

Sources said that in his address at 08:30 pm, the prime minister will take the nation into confidence regarding the government’s decision and new initiatives to counter terrorism accross the country especially in the wake of a deadly blast which took lives of over 70 people in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore on Sunday evening.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister presided over a security meeting in Lahore to review Lahore terror attack and the overall strategy against terrorists.

In his remarks on the occasion, the prime minister called for more proactive coordination amongst law enforcement and intelligence agencies to defeat the sordid designs of terrorists.

The prime minister urged the provinces to speed up intelligence-based operations against terrorists, saying that we must take this war to the doors of terrorist outfits before they are able to hit our innocent country men.

Sharif said that winning the war on terror is imperative for us. He said our goal is not only to eliminate terror infrastructure but also the extremist mindset which is threat to our way of life.

Meanwhile, the military leadership also decided to conduct operation across the whole Punjab against terrorists, their facilitators and their hideouts.

In this regard, the Pakistan army and paramilitary troopers have already carried out five operations in Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan and held a number of terrorists.
