SHENZHEN, China: Pakistani Consul General to the Chinese City Guangzhou Diyar Khan attended the Huawei’s ICT Talent Cultivation Summit in Shenzhen, a City in Southeastern China.

The Summit was held on the sidelines of the final of Huawei’s ICT Competition in which six Pakistani Students also participated.

Besides Diyar Khan, nine ambassadors from the Middle East including Omani Ambassador in China and Dean of Arab Ambassadors Council Abdullah Al Saadi, UAE Ambassador in China Ali Aldhaheri, Jordanian Ambassador in China Yahya Qaralleh, Bahraini Ambassador in China Anwar Alabdulla, and Saudi Cultural Counsellor in China Fahad Alshareef also participated in the Summit. Likewise, Middle Eastern government representatives also attended the event.

The Huawei’s ICT Talent Cultivation Summit addressed the future needs of local sectors and industries, and how ICT talent development will drive national digital transformations.

The event included a panel discussion titled “ICT Talent Ecosystem, a key driver of digitalization, socioeconomic development and achieving national plans and visions”, in which participants were given the opportunity to discuss how digital transformation will enable Middle East leaders to achieve the targets outlined in their national plans and visions, and the importance of nurturing local talent to achieving digitalization.

The key theme that shone through was the need to support programs such as the ICT Competition in order to monitor, understand, and improve talent development initiatives in key markets.

Meanwhile, the Huawei ICT Competition Award Ceremony was also simultaneously organized.

In the Competition, six Pakistani Students included Muhammad Saim & Shehwar Younis of University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Muhammad Umar of Pak-AIMS University, Zohaib Anwar & Asim Fareed of Virtual University, and Jawaria Abbas of Lahore Leads University.

Muhammad Saim, Shehwar Younis and Muhammad Umar were part of Team A from Pakistan and they were awarded outstanding performers. While Zohaib Anwar, Asim Fareed and Jawaria Abbas were part of Team B from Pakistan, and they scored third position in the Competition.

The Huawei’s ICT Competition is part of Huawei’s longstanding effort to have a positive impact on the Middle East Community.

Contestants are measured on their knowledge of cloud computing, switching, routing, and network security. It is a unique opportunity for young people to test their abilities in ICT’s most cutting-edge fields.

To prepare for the challenge, Huawei offers Students access to online training and tests and educational workshops ahead of the Competition, as well as tailored tutoring led by university professors and Huawei experts.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
