RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistan on Wednesday registered a protest with the United Nations Military Observers over unprovoked ceasefire violations and targeting of civilian population by the Indian army along the Line of Control (LoC).
In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the protest was registered when the United Nations Military Observers at the United Nations Military Observers group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) visited the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The United Nations Military Observers were told that the Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing at the LoC on May 10, 13 and 16, 2017 which resulted in civilian casualties.
The observers were told that the Indian army used small arms, automatic and heavy caliber weapons, heavy mortar (122 mm Mortars) and field artillery in Sabzkot, Baroh, Tandar, Khuiratta, Kot Koterra and Karela Sectors to target Pakistani villages resulting in Shahadat (Martyrdom) of one civilian and injuring 15 others including women and children.
The UN Military Observers were also apprised with the latest situation along the LoC.
