ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Railways was ready to restore the operation of Samjhauta Express – a train service between India and Pakistan – which had been suspended due to the protests in Haryana.
“Pakistan Railways is ready to run the train service to facilitate the passengers of both sides but we are waiting for clearance from Indian government,” Spokesman of the Pakistan Railways told the state-run news agency on Wednesday.
He said that Pakistan Railways was ready to restore the service on last Monday but Indian government had not given clearance due to security situation in their country.
The train and bus services between the two neighbouring countries were suspended following widespread protests by the Jat community in Haryana whereby temporarily severing bilateral road and rail links.
Samjhauta Express commonly called Friendship Express, is a twice-weekly train service that runs between Delhi and Lahore.
