ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Security Adviser Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua on Wednesday said Pakistan had rendered great sacrifices in the war on terrorism, and served as a savior for Afghanistan.
In his address at an International Seminar on Counter Terrorism organised by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in Islamabad, Nasser Janjua said Pakistan respected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, and was committed to Afghan peace and stability.
The adviser said at the time of Russian aggression Pakistan stood by Afghanistan. He said Pakistan had always helped Afghanistan.
Lt. General (retd) Nasser Janjua said after the end of Soviet Union, the United States and the International Community went away. He said the International Community left Pakistan and Afghanistan to face the after affects. He was of the view that 9/11 was the result of situation the International Community had left incomplete.
The national security adviser said Pakistan had rendered immense sacrifices both human and material in the war on terror but those had not been acknowledged. He said despite sacrifices Pakistan was accused of providing safe heavens to the terrorists.
In addition, Nasser Janjua said today Pakistan had good ties with the Russian Federation.
