RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: A Pakistan army officer and three soldiers have sacrificed their lives while foiling a devastating terrorist activity, the  Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

In its press release issued today, the ISPR said that Major Ali Salman of intelligence agency along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) against a terrorist hideout in Sherotkai, Timergara, Upper Dir during wee hours today.

The ISPR said that upon raided terrorists opened fire, and one of two suicide bombers present in the hideout exploded himself while the other one was killed in exchange of fire. Resultantly, Major Ali Salman and three soldiers including Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim were martyred.

During the Operation, one terrorist was apprehended, the ISPR said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the war against terrorism was in fact “war of our existence” as a sovereign nation.

“The cowardly attacks on our law enforcing agencies can never flinch our resolve to back-off or slowdown in our resolve to continue with anti-terror operations,” the Prime Minister said in a statement on the martyrdom of four army personnel.

The prime minister said the valiant armed forces had inflicted huge damage upon terrorist elements but at the same time had rendered immense sacrifices in doing so.

“Each drop of blood of our heroes is a testament to the fact that we all are united as a nation to cleanse our beloved motherland from terrorist elements,” he said.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
