ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Soyem of senior photographer Abdul Wahid Baghi was held on Wednesday at National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad wherein the journalist fraternity also paid glowing tributes to the deceased fellow.
Wahid Baghi passed away early Monday after he suffered a massive heart stroke at his residence in Shakrial area of Rawalpindi. He left behind a wife, two sons and three daughters.
On the occasion of Soyem of Wahid Baghi, Quran Khawani was arranged at NPC. Top office bearers of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), NPC, senior journalists and others participated in Soyem of Wahid Baghi and recited the Holy Quran.
Meanwhile, President PFUJ Afzal Butt, General Secretary RIUJ Ali Raza Alvi, former President NPC Shakeel Anjum, former President PFUJ Tariq Chaudhry and senior journalist Hamid Mir paid rich tributes to late Wahid Baghi.
They shed lights on life of late Wahid Baghi and appreciated his unwavering commitment to democratic and journalistic principles.
The NPC, on the occasion, announced to raise Rs 2 million for Wahid Baghi’s family through its own resources. Meanwhile, a three-member Committee headed by Shakeel Anjum was formed to raise the money.
Besides provision of Rs 2 million financial assistance to the deceased’s family, the NPC also announced to bear the educational expenses of Wahid Baghi’s daughters.
