ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between National Press Club (NPC), Islamabad and Pakistan German Press Club, Germany in Islamabad on Wednesday for enhancing the cooperation in the field of journalism.

The MoU was signed by the President NPC, Islamabad Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry, and the President Pakistan German Press Club, Frankfurt AM Main, Germany Saleem Pervaiz Butt.

Both the Press Clubs in their preliminary discussions and exchange of views emphasized the need of promoting quality journalism and need for capacity building of the journalist numbers of their respective Clubs and close cooperation between them for the welfare of journalist community.

Therefore, this MoU stipulates as under:

  1. That the National Press Club Islamabad shall award the Associate Membership to the Pakistan German Press Club, Germany;
  2. That the associate membership will allow the members of the Pakistan German press Club, Germany to avail facilities of the National Press Club, Islamabad during their stay in Pakistan;
  3. That the Pakistan German Press Club, Germany shall organize workshops and other capacity building courses for the members of the National Press Club, Islamabad in collaboration with various German Media Houses;
  4. That both the Clubs shall launch the Media Delegation’s Visit Program on reciprocal basis annually;
  5. That the host Club shall extend the local hospitality to the media delegation as well organize various activities and visit to various Media Houses with an aim to provide maximum information useful for the delegates in their respective professional career;
  6. That the Pakistan German Press Club shall make efforts for sending master trainers to train journalists in various disciplines of Media Industry including application of latest technologies.
  7. That both the Clubs shall make all out efforts to implement the clauses of this MoU in letter and spirit.

High officials of the Ministry of Information including the Director General External Publicity Zahoor Barlas, the Director General Internal Publicity Tahir Khushnood, and the former Secretary Information Azam were also present in the signing ceremony.

The NPC Secretary Shakeel Anjum, the NPC Joint Secretary Fauzia Rana, senior journalists Chaudhry Amjad Sadiq, Rao Shakeel, Agha Iqrar Haroon, Aslam Khan, Jahangir Minhas, and Waheed Chaudhry among others also attended the ceremony.
