ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Wednesday said that the fee structure for medical and dental colleges will remain unchanged as the proposal of increase in fees has been refused.
According to an official of PMDC, after taking notice of the private medical colleges’ decision of increase in their fees, the council had cancelled the recommendation of such fees hike.
He said that now as per admission policy 2016 the fee of medical and dental colleges will be Rs 6,42,000.
He said earlier private medical and dental colleges had submitted a proposal to increase fees of medical and dental colleges up Rs 13,00,000. However, the council had moved their recommendation to the Ministry of National Health Services for fee increase with suggestion of fees increase up to only Rs 8,00,000.
He said that later the council had reviewed the proposal of the medical and dental colleges and decided not to make any increase in fees.
He said that the council had seriously taken the matter of admitting the students in medical and dental colleges prior to the time frame announced by the council.
He said that the council has decided that no medical and dental college will be allowed to work in violation of the law and that the council will not tolerate any violation of the rules and regulations and set criteria of PMDC.
He said that majority of private medical and dental colleges had advertised in the newspapers and admitted students before October 31st and before completion of admission process of public medical and dental colleges in violation of rules.
He said that the PMDC had always tried to safeguard the interest of all the public and private institutions but any institution that violates the rules and criteria of PMDC will be dealt with strict penal action.
The official said that the PMDC is the supreme regulatory body for the medical and dental education and any advertisement published from any unauthorized group or individual will be ignored.
He advised all students, their parents and institutions to strictly follow the centralized provincial or regional admission or entry test policy described in SRO and other decisions of the council.
He cautioned that any admission granted against these regulations will be considered as violation of PMDC rules and will not be registered by affiliating university and PMDC.
He said that the violating institutions will be penalized under the Ordinance 1962 and that the tuition fee will be the same as mentioned in these regulations.
