ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan and China are committed to timely completion of economic corridor project and no hurdle would be tolerated in this regard.
In a meeting with the former Chinese Consul General in Islamabad on Tuesday, the president underlined the need for constant contact between the people and institutions of the two countries for the purpose.
On July 25, The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that the Pakistan armed forces are aware of enemies’ campaign against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and vowed to turn this long cherished dream into reality.
“We are acutely aware of our rivals’ campaign against the corridor project, the COAS said during his visit to the Panjgur and Turbat area of Balochistan on Saturday to inspect a part of under construction road network as part of the CPEC by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
The $46 billion CPEC project was signed when the Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a two-day official visit to Pakistan on April 20-21.
Under the project, Pakistan’s southern port city of Gwadar will be connected with China’s northwestern autonomous region of Xinjiang, via a network of highways, railways and pipelines to transport oil and gas.
