ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Met Office on Monday forecast that scattered rain are expected to lash in Punjab, Upper Sindh, Eastern Sindh and Kashmir till Wednesday.

Some monsoon current are likely to penetrate in Punjab Sindh and Kashmir from mid-week i.e after 48 hours causing more rain, Director National Weather Forecasting Center Islamabad Dr. Muhammad Hanif told the state-run news agency.

He shared that so far below normal rains were received in the country but monsoon season is expected to continue for another four to five week and some more rains are likely to receive during this time.

In next 24 hours, rain-thunderstorm is expected at few places of Malakand, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Mirpurkhas, Zhob divisions and Kashmir whereas mainly hot and humid weather to continue in most parts of the country.

A Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan. Another low pressure area lies over central parts of Rajasthan (India). Under the influence of this weather system monsoon currents are penetrating eastern parts of the country.

A shallow westerly wave lies over Kashmir and its adjoining areas.

In last 24 hours weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places of upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper KPK, Hyderabad division, Barkhan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall recorded during this time span was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Malamjabba 38mm, Lower Dir 07mm, Peshawar 04mm, Bannu 02mm, Saidu Sharif 02mm, Cherat 01mm, Punjab: Mangla 37mm, Noorpurthal 20mm, Kasur 08, Sargodha 07, Murree 07, Joharabad 06, Chakwal 05, Jhelum 04mm, Mandi bahauddin 04mm, Sialkot 03mm, Islamabad 02mm, Balochistan: Barkhan 27mm, Kashmir: Garidupatta 21mm, Kotli 03mm, Rawalakot 02mm, Sindh: Chhor 13mm, Mithi 09mm and Gilgit Baltistan: Skardu 01mm.

Maximum temperatures recorded on Monday remained Turbat 46øC, Sibbi 43øC, Rohri 42øC, Multan 39øC, Hyderabad 38øC, Peshawar 38øC, Faisalabad 38øC,  Islamabad 37øC, Muzaffarabad, Quetta, Lahore 36øC, Karachi, Gilgit, Chitral 34øC, Dir, Kalat 33øC, Skardu 32øC, Hunza 27øC and Murree 25øC.
