ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday reiterated his stance that his pre-planned disqualification was announced in the pretext of Iqama when no wrongdoing was found in Panama Papers Case.
In a Press Conference at Punjab House in Islamabad hours after he appeared before the Accountability Court to face references as per directives of Supreme Court, Nawaz Sharif said on one across the County including legal fraternity and people accepted the verdict of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Panama Case.
“How can I accept a verdict which wasn’t accepted by anyone in the Country,” said Nawaz Sharif who was disqualified by the Supreme Court on July 28 in Panama Case.
Nawaz Sharif said he and his family were the prime target in Panama Case; however, the whole Country had to suffer what was inflicted on them.
The former prime minister said for the first time in history of Pakistan, respondents were denied their due rights. He said it wasn’t a fair trial in which article 10-A of the Constitution was violated.
Nawaz Sharif questioned the whole proceedings of the Supreme Court since beginning and also the formation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which he said, was made of ‘diamonds’ and against whom inquiries were underway. He said his family didn’t receive the justice, and even he wasn’t allowed to file a review against the Panama verdict in a democratic era.
The disqualified prime minister said he had been going through such phases since decades. He said his political victimization began in 90s but he was never found guilty.
On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif pledged to fight for Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, for the people, democracy, Constructions and sanctity of vote. He said he would fight his Case in the biggest Court – Court of people in 2018 elections – whose verdict, according to him, would swept away everything.
The prime minister said only people had the right to elect or disqualified their leaders as enshrined in the Constitution.
Earlier in the outset, Nawaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the people for praying for his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. He said neither he wanted to go abroad nor it was planned ever but was bounded to visit London for his wife.
Nawaz Sharif also thanked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and workers for their support to the Sharif family.
