ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) would soon initiate National Internship Programme for country’s youth aiming to overcome the menace of unemployment, said an official.

Talking to media, he said 600 youth would be imparted need based technical education in collaboration with chamber of commerce and relevant provincial institutes. The trained youth would also be offered respectable jobs.

He said skill competitions of technical youth would be held on January 25. Best performers would be conferred prizes. Skill Counselling Desks would soon be established for guidance of youth.

He said the main aim of the programme is to utilize energies of youth in productive way and eliminate unemployment, poverty and crimes.

Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has been initiated for equipping country’s youth modern technical education. Under the programme country’s youth is being imparted over 80 courses of different nature, he said.

NAVTTC has already imparted technical education among 25,000 youth in the first phase of Prime Ministers Youth Skill Development Program as a trained youth is an asset of the country even valuable from gold and minerals, he said.

In second phase 25,000 youth was also being imparted technical education, he said adding that third phase of Prime Minister’s youth training programme would be started from March. The number of technical students would be enhanced up to 100,000 from existing 50,000.

He said job fairs would also be organized in January to March. Country’s leading industrialists would participate in the job fair. Job providers and seekers would be placed at one platform.

Responding to a question he said out of a total of the population of 200 million – 60 percent is consist of youth. Modern courses for technical education have already been prepared. NAVTTC has approved introducing 59 new courses in the country.

They should be provided employment opportunity. European countries had overcome the menace of unemployment by promoting technical education. Government would provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth.
