ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In order to encourage and motivate youth of Pakistan to acquire technical Skills, National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Regional Office Sindh organized a “National Skills Competition” in Memon Industrial & Technical Institute Karachi.

In this Skills Competition about 100 trainees of different TVET Institutes of Private & Public sector participated and exhibited their Skills in 10 diversified trades.

The trades selected for this competition were Welding, beautician, Dress Making, Fashion Designing, Textile Designing Fine Arts, Cooking etc.

Zulifqar Ahmad Cheema Executive Director NAVTTC on the occasion appreciated the work of trainees and informed that currently 25000 trainees are being given TVET training in different trades all over the country under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill development Programme phase-II.

He apprised the audience that in the upcoming Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program Phase-III the number of target trainees all over Pakistan has been enhanced to 50,000 to empower the unemployed and under privileged youth of the country.

He highlighted the future plans of NAVTTC which include establishment of Skill Development University and Center of Excellence’s in each province.

Zulifqar Ahamad Cheema also distributed cash prizes of Rs. 20,000/-, Rs. 15,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- amongst the 1st 2nd and 3rd position holders of each trade.

On the occasion, Nabeela Umer Director General NAVTTC Sindh said that making the youth of Pakistan skillful means empowering them and providing them with opportunities to gain financial independence.

The event was also attended by Dr Masroor Ahmed Shaikh, Director STEVTA, Dr Bhai Khan Shar Director CEAD Jamshoro, Faseeh-u-din Siddiqui General Secretary Employer Federation of Pakistan, Waliullah Dal DIG Motorways Sindh.
