ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Military Parade will be held at the Shakarparian Parade Ground in Islamabad on Wednesday as the nation will celebrate Pakistan Day with the pledge to work hard for the progress, prosperity and stability of the country.  

Meanwhile, special security arrangements have been put in place in the twin cities to avert any untoward incident.

The day will dawn with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals, marking the passage of Lahore Resolution that led to the creation of Pakistan.

The special prayers will be held in mosques after Fajr prayers for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country. National flag will be hoisted on major government buildings.

The main feature of the day will be the military parade at the parade avenue in Islamabad where armed forces will conduct march past and the fighter jets will present aerobatic manoeuvres.

President Mamnoon Hussain will be the chief guest while Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the services chiefs will also witness the parade.

Various political, social, religious, educational and other organizations have arranged functions to highlight the importance of the Pakistan Resolution that paved the way for the creation of an independent homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.
