Monitoring Desk: Soldiers of the mountain units of the Armed Forces of Russia and Pakistan crossed the mountain river in the framework of joint exercises and also ascended Mount Pastukhov in Karachay-Cherkessia.
Mount Pastukhova is a mountain peak in Karachay-Cherkessia located between the Greater Zelenchuk and Marukha, above the village of Nizhny Arkhyz. The height is 2733 m. The top is named after the Russian military topographer, traveler Pastukhov. North of the summit, on the crest of the watershed built an astrophysical observatory with one of the largest telescopes in the world.
Over 200 Pakistan and Russian military men are busy in two-week long Druzhba-2017 (Дружба-2017) military exercises till October 4, 2017.
According to information available with Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency, skill training was conducted according to the plan of the joint exercise. Equipment for the Pakistani military was provided by the Southern Military District.
According to information, servicemen of Russia and Pakistan crossed the river, the width of which reaches 10 meters, and the depth exceeds 2.5 meters with a current speed of more than 8 meters per second. Such conditions require not only individual skills, but also coordinated work of fighters in the unit, stressed the commander of the motorized rifle (mountain) brigade, Colonel Sergey Dmitriev. According to him, Pakistani and Russian servicemen are actively exchanging experience.
The servicemen were accompanied by experienced instructors in the mountain training of the South-Eastern Military District. Under their leadership, the participants of the exercise climbed and descended the natural rocks of the Caucasian ridge at an altitude of 2.3 thousand meters using the “Ratnik” kit and equipment of climbers. Also, the mountain arrows of both countries crossed the river Bolshoe Zelenchuk.
