ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Centre for Social Justice will host a media briefing in Rawalpindi on February 19 to deliberate upon the implementation of the judgement about Minorities Rights issued by the former Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on June 19, 2014.

The briefing will also include a discussion about the Mandate and Scope of Shoaib Suddle Commission formed by the Supreme Court in January 2019 for the enforcement of its orders regarding the protection and enforcement of minorities’ rights, according to the Special Advisor Shoaib Suddle Commission Peter Jacob.

The media briefing will take place from 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm at Christian Study Centre, 126, Murree Road, Rawalpindi on February 19 (Tuesday) followed by a dinner.

It is worth noting that the 32-page landmark judgment followed a suo moto action taken by the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the 2013 blast in a Peshawar Church, in which over 100 people were killed.

In its judgement, a three-member bench of the Apex Court led by the then Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Mushir Alam directed the federal government to constitute a National Council for minorities’ rights.

The bench also ordered the establishment of a Special Police Force to protect the places of worship of minorities.
