ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to start annual Margalla Festival-2016 from May 28, 2016.

The festivities of Margalla Festival-2016 will remain continue for three months.

Different Sports and cultural programmes would be organized all over the city to provide healthy recreational facilities to the residents of the Federal Capital.

This was decided during a recent meeting held at CDA headquarters which was attended by Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Environment Sanaullah Aman, Deputy Director General Sports, Culture and Tourism and other senior officers of the Authority.

Member Environment Sanaullah Aman apprised the meeting that, since last many years, Margalla Festival has become a regular feature of Islamabad and residents of the city anxiously wait for the celebration of this festival.

He briefed that the different Sports tournaments including Inter-Club Football Tournament, Inter-Club Hockey Tournament, Basketball Tournament, Lawn Tennis Tournament, Table Tennis and Taekwondo competitions would be organized at different grounds of the Federal Capital.

He informed the meeting that Ramadan Flood light Inter-Club Cricket Tournament has also been planned, which would be participated by the renowned cricket clubs of the twin cities.

He said that in addition to these tournaments, competitions of traditional games would be also organized during the Festival.

He further informed that Tent Pegging competition has become an icon of Margalla Festival and keeping in view the interest of general public as well as of diplomats, this year Authority has planned to organize Tent Pegging Competition at large scale and renowned clubs and horse riders from all over the country would be invited to participate in Tent Pegging Competition.

He also informed the meeting that week long Cultural show would be also organized to highlight the rich culture of the country in the Federal Capital.

He further informed that different music concerts, sufi nights and other cultural programmes would be the main feature of Margalla Festival-2016.

On this occasion Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed said that on the directions of Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, Authority is committed to provide healthy recreational and sports facilities to the residents of Islamabad.

He said that basic purpose for organizing of Margalla Fesitival-2016 is to attract the youth of the country particularly the of the Capital city towards sports grounds where they can exhibit and further polish their talents.

He said that Chairman CDA has directed to make the arrangements of the up to the mark and teams which are coming from the other parts of the country be facilitated in every manner.
