ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Malala Fund will be launched across Pakistan on October 8, aimed at improving the quality of learning output and social uplifting of students and children.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Pakistan will execute the program in nine districts of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) and Balochistan.

In this regard, a meeting was held in Islamabad on Thursday at which the Director UNESCO Islamabad Vibeka Jensen gave a brief presentation on Malala fund to the Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman.

It was told in the meeting that the Malala Fund program would cover almost all aspects of the education like sanitation facility in girl’s schools specially and teacher’s training etc.

The program would be campaigned through social mobilization using social techniques best suited for local communities like advocacy, corner meetings and through FM radio.

Later in the day, the minister chaired another meeting regarding the National Best Teachers’ Award.

This program is initially for two years starting from October 2015 to June 2017 with the estimated budget of Rs60 million.

The special criteria for the selection of teacher would include innovation in teaching method, leadership quality and integrity of character along with the general criteria (Academic qualification, experience, and performance etc).
