KARACHI, Pakistan: More than 100 people were on board the Karachi-bound Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus 320 which crashed near the Jinnah International Airport just before landing on Friday.

The plane was carrying 99 passengers and 8 crew members when it crashed in a residential area – Model Colony – due to a technical fault.

The PIA plane departed from Lahore at 1:00 pm and it was scheduled to arrive at Karachi at 2:45 pm. The aircraft registration number was AP-BLD Airbus A320-214.

Senior journalist Ansar Naqvi, President Bank of Punjab Zafar Masood, and fashion model Zara Abid were also on board the plane.

Luckily, Zafar Masood survived in the crash while the fate of the rest of passengers is yet to be ascertained.
