LAHORE, Pakistan: The security was beefed up in the Punjab Capital while the metro bus service was partially suspended as a part of measures to deal with security threats received after alleged terrorists were held from Township Lahore.
Sources said that security institutions received security threats after they conducted a raid in Township residential area in Lahore on Saturday morning and arrested alleged terrorists. The raid was conducted on receiving a tip off about the presence of alleged terrorists in the area.
They said that arrested terrorists had links with activists of a banned outfit who were killed in Lodhran last night as a result of exchange of fire with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
After the raid in Township Lahore, sources said, relevant authorities received an anonymous phone call from a person threatening to target various areas in Lahore in response to security agencies’ operation in Township.
Eventually, the provincial capital was put on high alert and to avoid any untoward incident, the metro bus services was partially suspended.
On Friday night, the CTD Multan team while responding to information regarding presence of some terrorists raided a place at Moza Adam Wahan in Lodhran’s Sadar police area. Upon CTD team’s arrival, terrorists hurled hand grenades at the team which in return, opened fire and killed four terrorists.
