RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistan army has successfully completed its Operation Khyber-4 on Monday under Radd-ul-Fasaad (RuF) to wipe out terrorists in the Rajgal Valley area of Khyber agency.

“Today Khyber-4 has successfully completed,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said while briefing media representatives in Rawalpindi on Monday.

The director general ISPR said that the Operation Khyber-4 was launched on July 15, 2017, and under it 253 kilometers area has been cleared of terrorists.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said that Khyber-4 was a difficult operation during which two soldiers were martyred while six received injuries. He said that likewise, 52 terrorists were killed, 31 injured, one apprehended while four handed themselves over to Pakistan army during the operation.

The DG ISPR said that hundreds of landmines were removed during the Operation Khyber-4. He said that ground targets in Rajgal and Shawal have been achieved while the Clearance Operation still continues in Khyber valley.

As many as 91 Check posts have been set up in Rajgal Valley, he said.

The DG ISPR said that the help of Afghan Security Forces was also taken for the Operation Khyber-4.

Furthermore, he said that under Radd-ul-Fasaad, 3,300 operations were carried out across the Country whereas 1,728 operations were conducted in Punjab as per intelligence reports.

95% IDPs have returned to FATA

Talking about Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the DG ISPR said that 95 percent of IDPs have returned to their native towns in the tribal region.

The director general ISPR said that 147 schools, 17 health units and 27 mosques have been established in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA). He further said that registration of Youth will also be carried in FATA.

No organized network of any terror outfit exists in Pakistan

In reply to a question, the DG ISPR categorially said that no organized network of any terrorist organization exists in Pakistan. He said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb was conducted in North Waziristan against all terror organizations without any discrimination.

Talking about reforms in FATA, the DG ISPR said that these are inevitable, and Pakistan army has given its suggestions in this regard to the government.

It’s govt’s prerogative to open Dawn Leaks report

In reply to a question with reference to former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s proposal to the government to make the Dawn Leaks report public, Major General Asif Ghafoor said that it is prerogative of the federal government to open report of any inquiry including Dawn Leaks.

The director general ISPR said that whosoever wants the Dawn Leaks report be made public, he should request to the government.

“Masses have the right to know the facts” Major General Asif Ghafoor said.

No NRO

The DG ISPR in reply to another question also denied that any NRO is being arranged with the civilian government. He said that the matters surrounding the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif are of civil nature, and army has nothing to with that.

No rift in civil-military relations

Major General Asif Ghafoor also made it clear that there is no rift in civil-military relations in Pakistan, adding that though differences always exit in functional matters even in blood relations.
