ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will address the National Assembly on Wednesday after the joint opposition decided to end boycott of the Parliament.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the opposition parties in Islamabad on Tuesday in which it was decided that the opposition would resume attending proceedings of the National Assembly and the Senate.

The opposition parties also decided to hold talks with the government on the formation of Joint Parliamentary Committee proposed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his latest address at the National Assembly.

The proposed committee will draft consensus terms of reference (TORs) for investigation into Panama Papers.

While giving a policy statement on the issue of Panama Papers in the National Assembly on Monday, the prime minister asked the Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to form a committee in consultation with the leader of the opposition and other parliamentary leaders.

The prime minister presented his tax record before the Lower House of the Parliament and gave details about family assets abroad and sources of their financing. He said that more evidence can be presented to the Committee.

Sharif categorically stated that no money from Pakistan was transferred abroad for London Flats and Jeddah Steel Mill. He said that he had with him all documents relating to transactions of Dubai and Jeddah factories. He said that London flats had been purchased from the proceeds of Jeddah factory.

The prime minister asked the Parliament to consider a comprehensive and effective system of accountability as per spirit of Charter of Democracy.

However, the opposition parties staged walkout from the House and argued that the prime minister didn’t answer their seven questions rather he left us with more questions to be asked from Sharif family.
