Islamabad, Pakistan: The Kazakhstan Journalists’ Union, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has awarded Pakistani journalist Agha Iqrar Haroon for his work to promote Kazakhstan and his culture.

The Award of Excellence was given to Agha Iqrar Haroon by Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Pakistan H.E. Mr. Bakhytbek Shabarbaev.

Agha Iqrar Haroon got this award for his participation in a contest for foreign journalists reporting on the country entitled “Kazakhstan in the Eyes of Foreign Media”. He is the first Pakistani journalist ever received this award of Excellence from government of Kazakhstan.

Agha Iqrar Haroon is a Pakistani who belongs to a literary and journalistic family. Haroon is a research journalist and social activist and started his career in 1986, with Progressive Press International (PPI). Since then, he has occupied senior positions in different media houses such as Nawa – i – Waqt Group, Al-Jazeera Television Channel in Pakistan, Abu Dhabi TV, Waqt TV, GEO News, Abb Takk. Haroon is currently working as a freelance writer for Eturbo News and heads Dispatch News Desk news agency.

The Kazakhstan Journalists’ Union, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan announces a contest for foreign journalists reporting on the country everywhere to promote Kazakhstan at international horizon.

The contest, judged by a panel drawn from members of the Journalists’ Union and distinguished guests, seeks to encourage high quality and insightful reporting on Kazakhstan in foreign media. The contest is open to journalists from North and South America, Europe, CIS countries, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Oceania, with one winner selected from each region.

While talking to Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency, Agha Iqrar Haroon thanked Kazakhstan government to appreciate his work and was of the view that he would continue to promote Central Asia in South Asia and all over the world because Central Asia a region that needed attention of journalist for its positive promotion.
