ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Joint Russian-Pakistani Tactical Exercise “Friendship-2016” started on September 24, 2016 in the mountainous area at the special forces training center in Cherat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and will continue there till October 10, 2016.
This is the first ever exercise of the Armed forces units of both Russian and Pakistan. More than 200 servicemen of the two countries are involved. The Russian Armed Forces represented by 70 servicemen of the mountain motorized rifle brigade of the South Military District.
The servicemen will share their experience and improve coordination while performing assigned combat training tasks in mountains, particularly, elimination of the conditional illegal armed formations.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening counterterrorism cooperation between Russia and Pakistan.
