Italy committed to further strengthen its defence ties with Pakistan

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Staff of Italian Army General Claudio Graziano has said that his country is committed to further deepening its already strong defence ties with Pakistan.

The Italian Chief of Army Staff made these remarks in a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday.

The Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said that the two military leaders discussed wide range of issues of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation and measures contributing towards regional stability during the meeting.

During the meeting, General Graziano praised the professional excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces and Pakistan’s positive role in the promotion of regional peace and stability.

The ISPR said that General Raheel Sharif reiterated commitment and resilience of the people of Pakistan and its armed forces in confronting multifarious security challenges.

Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to Italian chief of Staff, who laid floral wreath at Yadgar – e –Shuada and paid rich tributes to mammoth sacrifices of Pakistan Armed forces.
